An RV cover protects paint, seals, decals and roof from sun, dirt and weather while the RV is parked. The right one depends on your RV type, size and climate.
Choose by RV type
| RV type | Cover notes |
|---|---|
| Class A motorhome | Large; look for roof access panels or zipper doors to reach the entry |
| Class B (camper van) | Often fits large van covers; check roof height |
| Class C | Must fit the cab-over section |
| Travel trailer | Check whether length includes the hitch or bumper |
| Fifth wheel | Needs room for the raised front section |
| Pop-up camper | Short, low covers; fit when collapsed |
How to measure
Measure length from bumper to bumper, then follow the cover maker's sizing chart, since some include ladders, spare tires and hitches and some do not. Measure height too if you have roof AC units or vents.
Fabric features
- Breathable: lets moisture escape so mold and mildew are less likely.
- Water-resistant top: sheds rain; fully waterproof, non-breathing covers can trap moisture.
- UV resistance: matters most in sunny climates.
- Tie-downs and straps: keep the cover from flapping and rubbing in wind.
Tips
- Wash and dry the RV before covering it.
- Pad sharp corners, gutters and ladders so they do not tear the fabric.
- Add tire covers to slow UV damage to tires.
- Check the cover after storms.
